2025 marks the 50th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between China and the European
Union. To commemorate this important milestone, the Institute for China-Europe Studies (ICES)
is launching a special dialogue series, 50 Years of EU-China Relations, exploring key themes
that have shaped and continue influencing China-EU relations. The series will feature leading
scholars and experts through a series of dialogues in various formats, including webinars,
in-person events, podcast, etc.

The inaugural episode will address the evolving trilateral relationship between the EU, China
and the United States, particularly in light of ongoing global trade tensions and the recent
wave of tariff escalations. The panel, which is composed of speakers from the three mentioned
regions, will discuss the trade war evolution and the role China, the US and Europe play in
the latest developments, its impact on trilateral and bilateral relations, as well as policy
recommendations. In the following Q&A session, the audience can address questions and
deepen the discussion.
