ICES is a Brussels-based think tank seeking to foster better mutual understanding between China and Europe by supporting academic research in a broad range of fields, including but not limited to business and trade, international law, and global governance. Initiated by the Hainan Free Trade Port Research Foundation, ICES also aims to increase knowledge-sharing avenues between China and Europe, also focusing on maritime affairs and ocean governance. To achieve its objectives, ICES organises events and conferences, publishes research papers, commentaries, and reports, and supports academic exchanges, promoting the free flow of ideas and people between Europe and China.
